How can we find and activate house-hunting young professionals and students that are willing to help their neighbors integrate?
For Stadgenoot’s housing project Stek Oost, we came up with an idea that connected people from entirely different backgrounds. Instead of focussing on the differences between qualifying beneficiaries and Dutch young professionals, we focused on the most relevant, common denominator between the two: the willingness to be(come) a good neighbor.
“It’s not hard finding people that need housing in Amsterdam, we all know this. The true challenge was finding the right people for this project, because all the participants – nay: neighbors – needed to be willing to invest at least two hours per week on the Stek Oost community.”
